The Self

It is Christmas time and instead of just thinking about merrymaking and all those things that will require you to use money, why not do a self-evaluation? What kind of person are you? Can you remember that occasion when you had the most fun? Who were you with?

Christmas time is a time when the difference between the poor and the rich is greatly obvious especially when it comes to spending. However, ask yourself if without the money, how do you fare in life? Are you content with what you have now?

These things are best thought of while drinking your favorite brewed coffee. So fill your brewer now and be ready for self thought.

Coffee For Colon Cleansing?

Have you ever tried using coffee for purposes other than as a beverage to wake you up?

This maybe a sensitive topic for those who are queasy about waste, fecal matter and their anus so if you belong to those who feel icky when those words are mentioned then read-on at your own risk.

The fast paced life lived by people today has resulted to more demand for fast food, high fat food and processed food. Unknowingly, we consume more fatty and processed food and less fiber-rich food, endangering our health. Thus, the increase of digestive and colon diseases including colorectal cancer, diverticulitis and irritable bowel syndrome.

How many times do you eat a day? Compare this with the number of poop you have per day and you would wonder where the rest of the food goes. Apparently, the rest of these substances which are not excreted through your rectum remains in the colon and form a plaque on the colon wall. When this builds up it can poison the whole system so that's when you start to feel dizzy, you get headaches, constipation, have more problem losing weight and more serious health problems.

Apparently there are ways to rid our colon of compacted waste matter and that is through colon cleansing. Have you ever tried coffee colon cleansers? Yes, you traditionally drink coffee through your mouth but when used as colon cleansing, coffee is used as an enema colon cleanser. Coffee is placed in a pouch with a tube and is then inserted into the anus to clean the colon of compacted fecal matter.

Is the opening of the second Figaro outlet in Davao City indicativce of the growing coffee culture in the city? Figaro just opened its second outlet at SM City Davao yesterday. The first one is located at Chimes Department Store.

Despite the common notion that Figaro is a foreign-owned company, it is really a business venture fo seven Filipino friends who loved coffee and traveling. Theere are only two Figaro outlets in Mindanao and these are all located in the city. There are plans to open a third franchise outlet in Cagayan de Oro City.

is coffee a healthy drink?

In the first place, pregnant women wouldn't be warned against drinking coffee if it is healthy. I'm not saying that it is unhealthy but since its basic ingredient is caffeine, then that should be something to think about. The amount of caffeine however depends on the coffee preparation you are taking in. Brewed coffee contains the most caffeine, making me a guaranteed caffeine addict. Next in line is instant coffee.

If you want to continue drinking coffee but do not want too much caffeine in your body then choose decaf as a teaspoon only contains about 2 mg of caffeine compared to up to 164 mg of caffeine in brewed coffee.

what's the perfect coffee measurement?

Let's accept the fact that there are people who just don't know how to make coffee. Not making coffee in the sense that they grow their own coffee but "making coffee" straight from the coffee maker. Experts say the best-tasting brewed coffee starts with the best coffee beans. However, that is only half the trick.

So how much coffee is enough for one cup? Research shows that to make the best-tasting coffee, you should use two tablespoons of coffee for every 6 ounce of water. However, it depends on individual taste. You also have a choice of adding skim milk, creamer or half and half to your coffee as well as sugar.

For me, that's one and a half tablespoon for one cup of steaming hot brewed coffee with sugar. That, for me, is the perfect drip coffee.
